Arachova is a mountain village, built at the foot of Mount Parnassos at an altitude of 950m it belongs to the prefecture of Boeotia and is about 160 km from Athens. Beautiful stone houses, narrow streets and fountains are the first impression a visitor sees. Arachova, despite the high tourist development has retained its traditional character, while providing the amenities and activities visitors seek.
If you visit Arachova during Easter you will have the opportunity to experience up close the "Panigiraki", the celebrations of the patron Saint George and the Battle of Arachova (November 1826).
The settlement combines the glory with the wild landscape, majestic view, healthy climate, interesting architecture, nightlife and winter sports. It is a winter destination which offers adventure, various activities and also calm and relaxation for those wishing.
It is famous for its agriculture, cattle breeding and the high quality of its products. Some of the traditional products of Arachova are: olive, olive oil, jam, legumes, honey, tsipouro, formaella cheese, feta cheese, yogurt, opsimotiri cheese, halva, frumenty and noodles.
The two highest peaks of Parnassus, is Liakoura (Likoria) 2.457m and 2.435m Gerontovrachos. Among these peaks, currently operate the two most famous ski resorts, Fterolaka and Cellars.
The ski resorts are pprobably the best organized and equipped in the country and meet the needs of beginners and advanced enthusiasts of skiing, acrobatic skiing but also many opportunities for interesting off-piste descents. It is also an ideal starting point for ski mountaineering to cross. Located at an altitude of 2300-1600m, offers 13 lifts and 20 pistes totaling 14 km in length. The 16 slopes are 600m to 4000m in length. Of these, 13 are blue (for beginner skiers), while three are black (for advanced skiers).
Operating there are ski schools and snowboard, and rental shops selling ski equipment and clothing boutiques. Also parking, helipad, reception, cafeteria, bar, restaurant, ambulance, road service and baby sitting.
